Think Tank Photo Lock It Up Review

June 1st, 2010

If you regularly travel with expensive camera gear, the Lock It Up cable lock from Think Tank Photo may be the best $25 you can spend. It is one of those items that works so well and so easily that you’re left wondering, “why didn’t I think of that?”

The Lock It Up is designed for two things: to lock your luggage or camera bag to a stationary object, or to lock two or more of your gear bags together for security. It does this with a simple retractable cable lock with a four-digit combination lock. Since the cable retracts into the lock, there’s no loose cable to worry about and get tangled. The whole package is about the size of your palm, so it is easy to pack almost anywhere.

Here are a few handy uses for the Think Tank Photo Lock It Up… When you’re traveling you can lock your camera bag to your table while you’re eating at a restaurant, or lock it to those comfy (no, not really) seats while you’re waiting at the airport. Now you can relax a bit because no one can snatch your bag from under you without AT LEAST alarming you and making a big ruckus.

If you are traveling with two or three bags, simply lock them together to make it almost impossible for someone to run away with them.

You can also use a lock like this for added security if you leave your camera bag in your hotel room. If you lock the zipper on your bag and lock the bag to a piece of furniture with the Lock It up, it would be very difficult for someone to take your gear.

I don’t know any cheaper insurance for your expensive camera equipment. Take at least a little of the stress out of travel with this simple tool. You can pick one up directly from Think Tank Photo, and get a free gift from DphotoA if you spend $50 or more!

This is all there is to it!

There’s been locks like this available for decades. Here’s one for $10: Master Lock 4605D for 00
